Starbucks is collaborating with Polygon! It's official, Starbucks is diving into the world of Web 3. For this, the American coffee giant has chosen Polygon, one of the most fashionable blockchains of the moment.
Starbucks Odyssey was born.
Recently, we told you about Starbucks' desire to integrate a Web 3 dimension into its offer. We now know more since Polygon, via a press release, has just announced its collaboration with the global coffee and restaurant giant.
The Seattle company is setting up a program called Starbucks Odyssey which will bring together its various initiatives in the field of Web3. Everything will start with a new rewards program, one of the strong points of the brand.
Starbucks customers who are members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program will be able to earn and purchase digital stamps in the form of NFTs. Subsequently, the coffee giant should offer other innovations such as NFT derivatives or a metaverse. The brand says about it:
The program will allow access to immersive experiences around coffee, from exclusive objects and collaborations with artists to invitations to exclusive events.
This project, highly anticipated by the crypto community, as a real crash test on the scale of a fast food multinational, will be released at the end of 2022.
Since yesterday, customers and partners can register on the waiting list to access this new experience.
Polygon wins again.
Once again, Polygon is chosen by a large company as a blockchain to host its projects. And once again, beyond the interesting performances of the network, it is the ecological dimension that made the difference.
Polygon, even more with the passage in proof of stake of Ethereum, is one of the soberest networks in terms of energy. In the context of global warming and taking into account environmental issues, the network stands out as a solution for the future.
Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal says:
Polygon is a natural fit for Starbucks, as both companies place great emphasis on diversity, accessibility, and sustainability. […] Polygon provides the perfect entry point for Starbucks to enter Web3.
For its part, Starbucks justifies its decision as follows:
Building Starbucks Odyssey using technology that aligns with our sustainability aspirations and commitments is a top priority. We took a very thoughtful and thorough approach when evaluating which blockchain to use and Polygon's fast, inexpensive and carbon-neutral network is the perfect foundation for our first digital community.
Polygon provides access to a fast, scalable, and energy-efficient network. Also, it is not surprising that it has established itself as the reference blockchain in recent months.
Many brands and companies have recently chosen Polygon. Among them is another American giant, Coca-Cola. It is on this blockchain that the soda giant has chosen to launch its collection of NFTs. A collection was released to celebrate Friendship Day with 4 different NFTs.
Another giant that is interested in Polygon is none other than Disney. The American company announced on July 13 the addition of Polygon to its Accelerator program. It is a business incubator supported by Disney. The mission is to support innovative companies and accompany them in their development. A sign of confidence and interest from one of the largest companies in the world!
According to recent figures, Polygon now has nearly 37,000 decentralized applications on its blockchain. This is an increase of more than 400% over one year.
A considerable figure which testifies to the enthusiasm for Ethereum's number 1 second layer solution. In addition, there are approximately 2 to 3 million daily transactions on the network.
Polygon will now accompany Starbucks on its Web3 journey. The coffee giant will certainly not be the last company to choose Polygon. More than ever, the Ethereum second layer blockchain is on the rise!
