Madonna, fan of NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)!

Madonna, fan of NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)!

Madonna, a fan of NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC)? We knew Madonna for her singing talents, maybe less for her love of NFT! Indeed, the queen of pop is a big fan of NFTs. In particular, she appreciates the NFTs belonging to the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection.

NFT Bored Ape Collection

The Bored Ape Yacht Club collection includes 10,000 NFTs. The NFTs were "designed" or "drawn" to each represent a "bored, scruffy, punk" monkey face. Why a collection centered on monkeys? The official reason is that the creators of this collection used to call themselves "monkeys" among themselves.

In addition, the monkey is an animal that passes well and is rather appreciated. Another reason would be that the creators were simply inspired by another big successful NFT collection, the CryptoPunks.

Each NFT is unique on two counts. First of all, as is the principle with NFTs, each is associated with a token that has a unique identifier. This token is stored on the Ethereum blockchain and guarantees the ownership of the NFT in question.

Then, each NFT features a unique monkey head in terms of characteristics. The “monkeys” are personalized by the color of the background, their coat, their earring, their eyes, their fur, their hat, their mouth, etc. In total, there are 170 attributes in the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.

According to data from cryptoslam.io, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs are the largest collection over the past 30 days in terms of sales volume. Since the beginning of NFT history, the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection is the second largest after… CryptoPunks!

Madonna is furious for missing the purchase of NFT Bored Ape #3756!

This is the magazine Variety which teaches us on Twitter. The Italian-American singer would be “furious”. Why? She would have missed the opportunity to buy the NFT Bored Ape number 3756! Madonna indeed confirmed in an interview with Variety that she was after NFT #3756.

But what is so special about NFT BAYC #3756 that appeals to the singer so much?

“I was determined to get an Ape and I knew exactly what I wanted: the Ape with a leather motorbike cap and multicolored teeth." Madonna

NFT #3756 represents a sign that wears a leather jacket and an SM hat… Moreover, it is recognizable by its gold earring and its multicolored teeth. Are you starting to see the link? Indeed, this NFT would have been inspired by Madonna!

“I was told it was inspired by me and designed after me, and was bought by a woman who is a fan of mine. She was going to sell it to me, but it was way too expensive." Madonna

“The Yuga Labs team loves when people see themselves in certain monkeys. The SM hat is a favorite feature of the founders of the collection; they love all things punk rock. Madonna helped popularize this style, of which the founders are fans." Yuga Labs

No luck, this NFT was sold to another person, a fan of Madonna…! At present, it is again on sale for the modest sum of 800.69 ETH or approximately 1.27 million dollars.

Celebrities are fond of Bored Ape NFTs

If Madonna could not buy her favorite NFT, she is still in possession of an NFT belonging to the BAYC collection. Indeed, last March, she bought NFT #4988. For the record, this NFT also wears an SM hat. What to console the queen of pop? Not sure!

NFT #4988 is less "rare" than the one she coveted, NFT #3756. Of the 10,000 NFTs in the collection, Bored Ape 3756 is ranked 123rd in terms of “rarity” while NFT #4988 is only… 3,754th!

Madonna isn't the only celebrity to get caught up in NFTs, especially BAYC NFTs. For example, Justin Bieber is also a big NFT collector.

Currently, on tour, the Canadian singer has bought the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club #3001 (BYAC) for the sum of 1.29 million dollars! Before him, Eminem bought 2021 NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club #9055 for 123.45 ETH, or $462,000 (according to the Ethereum price at the time of the transaction).

Other celebrities or athletes have also purchased an NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club such as:
  • Stephen Curry, NBA player;
  • Josh Hart, NBA player;
  • Tyrese Haliburton, NBA player;
  • Dez Bryant, NFL player;
  • Von Miller, NFL player;
  • Steve Aoki;
  • Timbaland.

Following their success, the creators of BAYC launched a spin-off NFT collection called Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC). Let it be said, the madness of the Apes is not over!
